Forex Trading: US Dollar Benefits As Risk Sentiment Erodes

Posted: 20 Jan 2010 03:04 AM PST

The USD has continued to climb higher this week (the DXY touching highs of 78.02 so far this morning) with the ongoing erosion of risk appetite. A combination of poor economic data, dovish central bank rhetoric, and sovereign debt concerns have all played a part in sustaining the USD rally; and in addition, Q4 corporate earnings have not, thus far, enjoyed the sort of euphoric results seen in Q3 to rejuvenate investor sentiment. Yesterday, Citibank reported a loss of 34c per share, worse than … [visit site to read more]

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 09:21 PM PST

Gbp/Usd is threatening to break below its 100 day M/A of 1.6310. From a daily perspective the next support level should come in about 100 points lower at 1.6207. This is a trendline of previous daily lows. If the 100 day M/A holds a move back up to 1.6370-80 is likely, though the pair does look bearish. Ultimate support is down at 1.6157, its 200 day … [visit site to read more]
