U.S. to push Europe on stress tests – WSJ

WSJ reports that the U.S. intends to urge Europe to disclose publicly the results of bank stress tests as a way to calm jitters over health of the continent's financial system. Stops tripped in EUR/USD through 1.2150 acclerating sell-off further. Been as low as 1.2116, presently at 1.2135.

Slightly better than median forecast of 57.8, unchanged from April's 15-year high. Meanwhile sterling bulls trying very hard to take out .8400 barrier in EUR/GBP.  And someone's trying equally hard to protect it. EDIT:  Pop goes the weasel.  You kinda knew how it would end.

EUR/GBP trades down at .8423 from around .8470 when I arrived 4 hours ago (seems much longer) Unless you've been living on Mars recently, you'll be well aware there's talk of .8400 barrier interest.  Stops seen through .8390.

German jobs data better than expected

German jobless total in May (seasonally adjusted) fell 45k, better than median forcast of 20k. Unemployment rate fell to 7.7%, better than expected 7.8%. EUR/USD is rallying back. Having been down to probe Swiss buying interest at 1.2170/80 (session low 1.2175), it's presently back up at 1.2195 in increasingly choppy trade.

The Bank of England is sitting on an £8 bln net profit from its £200 bln quantitative easing fund. Cable up marginally in early European trade, presently at 1.4510.  Sell orders noted up at 1.4540/50, stops just above there,  Buy orders noted down at 1.4450/60, stops through 1.4420.
