The kiwi more than erased the gains seen last week, as fear gripped the market and unemployment was on the rise. The upcoming week features the RBNZ financial stability report . Here’s an outlook for the events in New Zealand, and an updated technical analysis for NZD/USD

Last week a slowdown was sensed in NZ economy with a 17.1% slide in building consents after 16.6% gain in the previous month and disappointing employment data. The labor market increased by 0.2% while 0.6% rise was expected and unemployment rate increased to 6.6% while a decrease to 6.4% was predicted. Will this slowdown continue?

AUD/USD Outlook November 7-11

The Aussie had quite a rough week, ending significantly lower and erasing previous gains. Another busy week awaits us. Employment data is the highlight of 11 events. Here is an outlook for the events and an updated technical analysis for AUD/USD.

Glenn Stevens acknowledged the global slowdown and easing inflation and cut the interest rate to 4.50%. This weighed heavily on the pair, as well as no new hints on QE3 in the US.

Papandreou Cornered By Opposition – Elections Getting Closer?

After winning a vote of confidence in the early hours of Saturday morning, Greece’s Prime Minister George Papandreou went to meet the president of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias and spoke about a new coalition government in order to secure a second bailout.

The main opposition party, New Democracy, doesn’t want a unity government led by Papandreou or any other politician from the PASOK ruling party. This was clear from the start. But now it seems that also other small parties are not willing to cooperate with Papandreou.

USD/CAD Outlook November 7-11

The Canadian dollar couldn’t keep up the fight as European troubles and also a jump in local unemployment weighed on it. Housing Starts and trade balance are the major events this week. Here’s an outlook for the Canadian events and an updated technical analysis for the Canadian dollar.

Last week, Canadian GDP came out better than expected expanding 0.3% indicating a positive growth rate in the third quarter. However employment data disappointed with an unexpected decrease of 54,000 in the number of jobs while an increase of 16,300 was forecasted and a worse than predicted Unemployment rate reaching 7.3% from 7.1% in the previous month. Will the Canadian market prove its resistance in face of global uncertainty?

EUR/USD Outlook November 7-11

Euro/dollar sank down the previous range and couldn’t fully recover, in a very tense and busy week. Are new falls awaiting us? The upcoming week consists of 9 events and the ongoing debt crisis in Europe. Here is an outlook for these events and an updated technical analysis for EUR/USD.

The Greek referendum was born at the beginning of the week and was buried towards the end. It definitely weakened the common currency, together with acknowledgement of a recession in the euro-zone and the rate cut. After the Greek government survived a confidence vote, some of the focus shifts to Italy, which has its own political mess and with its yields, long term and short term at scary, almost “bailout level” highs, despite ECB intervention.
