Will The Loonie Move To Parity With The Greenback?

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 07:17 AM PST

Fundamentals
Canadian Dollar futures have been on an extended holiday of sorts, trading within a 400-tick range since the end of October. However, it looks like bulls are starting to gain the upper hand as the New Year begins. A renewed interest in commodities has certainly benefitted the Canadian Dollar, as the country is a major supplier and exporter of grains, oil, and metals. In addition, the Canadian economy has weathered the recent recession better than its neighbor to the south, and it’s … [visit site to read more]

Ten ETF Stats That Will Shock You

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 07:11 AM PST

The final numbers for the ETF industry are in for 2009, and the results are truly impressive. Total ETF assets grew nearly 50% on the year, aided by a strong recovery in financial markets but also by strong cash inflows across the board. ETFs have clearly been established as much more than a passing fad, and seem poised to stage a challenge to mutual fund supremacy in coming years.
While impressive, the total asset (more than $790 billion) and cash flow (almost $120 billion) figures for 2009 … [visit site to read more]

Commerce Bancshares Lowered

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 01:30 AM PST

Given the current critical sustainability factor, we are downgrading our recommendation on the shares of Commerce Bancshares Inc. (CBSH) to Neutral from Outperform. Although the company's third quarter results were substantially ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate, continued weakness in loan demand and the credit metrics modestly offset the cost-cutting initiatives and growth in core fees and net interest income.

Additionally, more aggressive credit conditions are expected to … [visit site to read more]

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 05:39 AM PST

Investors in the Japanese markets had been hoping that the flip of the calendar to 2010 would bring new hope for the country's stalled economy, following a bitterly disappointing 2009 that saw Japan lag global economies by a considerable margin. But only two days in to the year, health problems of the finance minister have created yet another obstacle, setting the stage for a potentially devastating reshuffling of roles.

Forex Trading: USDCAD Stays Below 1.0405 Resistance And Moves Lower. Test Support At 1.0335/47

Posted: 06 Jan 2010 12:24 AM PST

The 1.0405/15 level was old floor support for the USDCAD and it is now becoming a ceiling resistance over the last 2 trading days.  The failure to move back above this key level and higher gold prices has led to some downside pressure in the pair. However, we continue to watch support at the 1.0335/1.0346 level.  Abreak below looks toward the 1.0300 as the continued probe lower continues for the pair. Upside resistance short term watch 1.0367 which was lows from earlier in the … [visit site to read more]
